The genealogy presented on this web site has been accomplished through years of research and then through the complete, undivided sharing of individual information on family branches and allied lines of four Hall cousins. We found one another years ago through researching our mutually elusive ancestor, Silas Leonard HALL. Since that time we have been working together and sharing our findings in order to learn more about Silas and his descendants, and especially about his ancestors. As we have progressed in our research, and as the tools of genealogy research have also progressed, DNA testing has led us in the direction of Edward HALL of Rehoboth, Massachusetts, as the immigrant ancestor of Silas Leonard HALL.
Silas Leonard HALL is first found, and documented, when he marries Eunice TITUS in Salisbury, Litchfield Co., Connecticut on April 4, 1774. About 1808/09 the family removes to Danby, Tompkins Co. (then Tioga Co.), New York. The four known children are Lydia, b. 1776 who marries in Salisbury, Joshua DURFEY; Amos, b. 1778; Leonard, b. 1781, who marries Sally LANDON in Salisbury; and Silas L., b. 1783 who marries Esther SALYER in Tioga Co., New York. There could have been other daughters. Some of the children and their descendants stayed in New York while others left the state. Some of the states that early descendants removed to are Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Washington, Missouri and Arkansas.
About a year ago, DNA testing placed us into a family group of which Edward Hall of Rehoboth, Massachusetts is known to be the immigrant ancestor of some members of the project. This was very exciting to us as we were already strongly leaning toward Jonathan Hall, Jr as the father of Silas. Additional research since that time has led us to be 99 percent certain that our Silas Leonard Hall was the son of Jonathan and Lydia (Leonard) Hall, Jr. of Raynham, Bristol Co., Massachusetts. To complete the ascendancy, Jonathan Jr. was the son of Jonathan and Sarah (Ockington) Hall, Sr.; Jonathan Sr. was the son of Samuel and Abigail (Pratt) Hall, who was the son of Edward Hall of Rehoboth, Massachusetts, the immigrant ancestor.
Since you have found us, you were probably searching for information on either Silas Leonard Hall or Edward Hall or one of their descendants. If that is the case, you are probably a cousin and we would welcome hearing from you, and about your line of descent, and sharing our information with you. We would be most grateful if you would share any new information with us to help fill in generations and facts, as well as to point out any potential errors that you might find. You can email us, or contact us through the site once you have registered for a user account. As with any genealogy, human error does happen. As the databases have been built, not all information has yet been fully documented, especially that in the Edward Hall database where an attempt has been made to fill out and bring the lines down. If you find information that is not sourced and can provide a source, we would be pleased to hear about it. And please always remember that if it is not sourced, you should not take it as fact. This site is an on-going work in progress as we continue to search for new information and documentation.
As you visit our site, kindly remember that any information that is not in the public domain, such as personal writings, notes and photos, are owned by the author. We will strive to always acknowledge the information of those who have helped us in our endeavor to learn as much as possible about the ancestors and descendants of Silas Leonard HALL and Edward HALL.
If you have any questions or comments about the information on
